Sweet Cheeks Baby Food in

Twin Cities Business Magazine!

It's really gratifying to be recognized by the local media... and very cool to have a business journal embrace our values and priorities of "growing"

healthy babies.

We appreciate the recognition.

These little piggies have roast beets...
We love feeding the Sweet babies of the Twin Cities Metro. We are excited to now be offering soups and cereals for the 'rents, grandparents and caregivers. But. Did you know we also feed the pigs?! That's right, we save our food scraps for the pigs at Otis Family Farms in Baldwin, Wisconsin. This practice lines up nicely with our priority of treading lightly on the earth. And, they look so happy, don't they? Happy healthy babies have Sweet Cheeks! (happy, healthy piggies do too.)

      • Augsburg Park Montessori, Richfield

Owner Sinead Carolan recently hosted a viewing of Fresh, the movie. She invited me to sit on a panel following the movie with (my dream team, the cool kids in local food) Tracy Singleton from the Birchwood Cafe; Lee Zukor from Simple Good and Tasty; and Margaret Marshall from Featherstone Farm. It was a great night and Sinead followed the movie with some observations she made regarding comparisons with the movie's message and the Montessori method. I was moved, and couldn't agree more.

        Food For Thought

"This industrialized, specialized, seperate farming system is not unlike the education system that Maria Montessori sought to change. Treating each child the same, homogenizing the curriculum and standardizing tests, is as unsustainable as feedlots and the corn belt. She worked for change, by setting up classrooms and inviting parents and educators to see the results. Not ulike these farmers, who are working to change the system, and inviting us to come see, sample and bring the message home.

Bigger farms, built to convenience the processors and the packagers, rather than the humans or animals who live there, echo the bigger schools, with schedules set for convenience of the bus company, rather than the families they serve.

'The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind' - isn't that also true of these people and the return to local, sustainable farming? Here is HOPE. These people represent the hundreds and thousands who have been working on this for decades already. They open our eyes, not with shock and fear, but with hope and optimism and passion. We are eager to learn what we can do to help."

-Sinead Carolan, educator, Augsburg Park Montessori

I met a cool metro dad organizing dynamic events and classes for dads and kids.  Future Family Favorites

I've heard from many customers who appreciate the simple recipes like Crispy Kale. I appreciate the feedback, and thought I'd offer some more ideas for adding nutrition:

  • Add 1 cup cooked wild rice and a diced granny smith apple to your favorite coleslaw recipe.

  • Saute zuchini, shredded carrots and spinach. Add your favorite red sauce and a cup of chick peas and serve with cooked pasta or grain. Try Quinoa or
    Brown Rice.

  • Smoothie: Combine, in blender: one banana, 1 cup of frozen berries, 1-2 cups plain Kefir, and 1-2 cups orange juice, blend and enjoy.

Photo Opp!

I think the photos Meghan takes are amazing... she's agreed to offer a special package and pricing...  just for you.

Just mention SWEET CHEEKS to redeem. Isn't that great?
